Civil Rights icon Ruby Bridges inspires audience
Civil Rights icon Ruby Bridges almost filled Pegasus Ballroom Wednesday night when she spoke to the UCF and Central Florida community. She shared her thoughts on racism and prejudice as well as her childhood story that helped shape American history.
"I know that it didn't have to be me. It could have been someone else tonight... I'm really happy that you chose me to be here tonight" Bridges said to the audience.
'Dancing with the Stars' contestant visits UCF
More than 200 students and individuals from the community gathered to hear Bono's story of how he physically and mentally transitioned from a female to a male.
The Multicultural Student Center and the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Queer/Questioning Services organized the presentation.
Chaz Bono Discusses Transgender Issues at UCF
MSC brought Chaz Bono, a leading transgender advocate and recent contestant on Dancing With The Stars, to UCF Wednesday night to discuss his experience transitioning from a woman to a man as shown in his documentary, Becoming Chaz.

Recognizing World AIDS Day
Free HIV testing, condoms available at the Union
"I won't get it." That's just one of the thoughts college students often maintain when it comes to HIV. In an effort to change that thinking, students and a well-respected member of UCF's staff have joined forces to bring awareness to World AIDS Day on Thursday.
The Student Government Association, the Multicultural Student Center, the Office of Diversity Initiatives, Delta Lambda Phi, Lambda Sigma Upsilon, Sigma Lambda Gamma, the African American Student Union and Equal at UCF have worked to put three events together for World AIDS Day.
Free HIV testing offered on World AIDS Day at UCF
The Student Government Association is encouraging students in need to take a different type of test before going home for winter break. For the first time ever, on Dec. 1, World AIDS Day, there will be free HIV testing for students in the Multicultural Student Center, provided by SGA. The testing will take place in the MSC office located in the Student Union from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
MSC looking to change its culture on campus
The Multicultural Student Center is looking to diversify in more ways than one.With an extensive plan that includes a revamped website, Twitter, Facebook and branching out to untapped campus communities, MSC is hoping to grab more of an audience and make UCF feel like home to anyone on campus.
Taste of UCF excites students' tastebuds
Taste of UCF, a rendition of Taste of Chicago put on by the Multicultural Student Center (MSC), was welcomed by hundreds of students at the arena Wednesday afternoon.Taste of UCF features a festival that celebrates the culture of a variety of countries through food.
Tying in with MSC's mission to broadcast an inclusive environment through multiculturalism and diversity, the event represented more than ten countries, including Italy, Mexico, the Bahamas, and France.
